North American consumers want foods without additives, including meat, because they understand that meats free of hormones and antibiotics, industrialized products free of chemical additives and crops without the use of genetically modified seeds are “healthier” and “tastier”, that is which points out a report from Technomic Inc.
In the video “Consumer Connect 2015: Attitudes Toward Additives”, using data taken from its Consumer Trends Report, Technomic presents data showing that more than 60% of consumers believe that natural meat is healthier, and 43% choose foods and drinks without additives because they believe that this brings more benefits to your health. Furthermore 73% states that foods without antibiotics are healthier.
The preference goes beyond the issue of health as 30% of consumers say that foods free from genetically modified organisms (GMO) are tastier, and 21% think that the absence of additives also brings gains in flavor.
Consumers say they are willing to pay more for these options. A third are willing to pay more for foods free of genetically modified organisms (GMO), and around 40% of consumers would pay more for antibiotic-free meats.
Additionally, 52% of consumers would like restaurants to be more transparent about what is in the menu options, as most establishments do not disclose the origin of their raw materials.
Producers, industry and service providers need to pay attention, as natural foods tend to become a standard and no longer a differentiator. The option for healthy foods is a global trend that has been forcing producers and the industry to adapt their production. Large fast-food chains such as McDonald's, Subway and PizzaHut are already paying attention to consumers' wishes, and have therefore begun to limit the use of antibiotics and reduce the amount of additives and preservatives in their products.
Consumers want food without preservatives, without hormones, with fewer additives, less processed, from local suppliers, fresh products and without genetic alterations.

but in this way we lose many wonderful things such as cured meats and so on that require additives, the best thing is to balance
At first glance it seems that healthier foods are more expensive but when we put the benefits on the scale we realize that it is worth investing a little more and having a healthier diet.
It's great to know that consumers are looking for healthier eating and directing the production sector, this is a great victory!
Thank you for the informations!
