I believe that all charcuterie lovers would like to bring hams from Spain, sausages from Germany or salami from Italy. But how does this import work, is it possible to bring these products for personal consumption? Yes!
Normative Instruction No. 11, of May 10, 2016, regulates the entry of food of animal origin into the country from abroad.

NORMATIVE INSTRUCTION No. 11, OF MAY 10, 2016
THE MINISTER OF STATE OF AGRICULTURE, LIVESTOCK AND SUPPLY, in the use of the powers conferred on her by art. 87, sole paragraph, item II, of the Constitution, in view of the provisions of article 3 of Decree no. 24,548, of July 3, 1934, articles 29, 44, 55 and 102 of the annex to Decree no. 5,741, of March 30 2006, and what appears in Process no. 21000.008339/2014-38, resolves:
Art. 1
The entry into the national territory of products of animal origin intended for human or animal use and consumption, classified as not presumed to be carriers of contagious diseases, listed below:
I – industrialized meat products, intended for human consumption, limited to 10 (ten) kilograms per person:
a) commercially sterilized;
b) cooked;
c) meat extracts or concentrates;
d) bresaola, salami, beef jerky, dehydrated beef powder, bacon, pork rinds, long-aged hams, all dried;
e) jerky, jerked beef and tasajo, all dried and salted; It is
f) gelatin and collagen products;
II – industrialized dairy products, intended for human consumption, limited to 5 (five) liters or 5 (five) kilograms per person:
a) UHT (Ultra High Temperature) milk;
b) dulce de leche;
c) powdered milk;
d) whey powder;
e) butter;
f) yogurt;
g) fermented milk drink;
h) sour cream;
i) milk protein hydrolyzate;
j) lactose;
k) cheese with long maturation; It is
l) cottage cheese;
III – egg products, limited to 5 (five) kilograms per person:
a) powdered egg;
b) pasteurized liquid egg;
c) pasteurized, cooled or frozen egg white;
d) dehydrated egg white;
e) preserved eggs;
f) pasteurized, cooled or frozen egg yolk;
g) dried yolk; It is
h) pasteurized whole egg;
IV – fish, intended for human consumption, limited to 5 (five) kilograms per person:
a) salted whole or desiccated gutted;
b) gutted smoked meat; It is
c) commercially sterilized;
V – confectionery products containing eggs, dairy products or meat in their composition, limited to 5 (five) kilograms per person;
VI – industrialized products of animal origin, intended for animal consumption:
a) thermally processed foods, limited to 5 (five) kilograms per animal; It is
b) chewable products intended for companion animals, limited to 5 (five) units per animal;
VII – products of animal origin for ornamentation, limited to 5 (five) units per person.
Single paragraph. The provisions of the caput of this article also include similar products listed in items I to VII of this Normative Instruction.
Article 2
For the purpose of entering the national territory, products must be packaged in their original manufacturing packaging, with labeling that allows identification, properly sealed, with no evidence of leakage or tampering.
